The other day a friend came to me and complained that his computer kept restarting itself over and over again. It really afflicted him a lot.
I helped the friend to fix the problem at last and realized that perhaps there were many computer users annoying by the same problem so I wrote this article.

The leading causes of why computer keeps restarting itself may divide into two kinds: software faults and hardware faults.
First we'd better exclude all possibility of software faults. I think it can be the following:
1) The computer has been affected by a kind of virus. A typical example is a once prevailing virus called MSBlaster which will make computers restart automatically every 60 seconds. However, it can have been worse. Your computer may be maliciously invaded when you search the internet and installed a Trojan-horse program by the hackers. With the Trojan-horse program, the hackers can control all activity of your computer, including making the computer restart and stealing some sensitive information in your computer. In such a case, you had better to update your anti-virus software and run a full computer scan. But notice that since anti-virus software is just a pre-defined solution to get rid of common viruses so it is recommended to ask tech support from some experienced or even professional tech guys when your anti-virus software can not fix the problem for you so that you can avoid a further loss.
2) It may happen when some files of the system have corrupted. For example, when the computer begin to run, the basic files required to ensure the smooth running of the operating system like fonts under Win98FONTS directory have been destroyed and then the operating system will force the computer restart for the system can't fulfill its initialization. In such a case, you can try to change the name FONTS in the win98 directory. That is all. As the saying goes, "we need to make a concrete analysis of everything."
