Mathematics in Computer Programming

Mathematics is applicable in various traditional fields of engineering: mechanical and electrical engineering are among them. Mathematics is used in computer engineering too.

Mathematical logic is used in the decision making, so it is used in computer programming. As Venn diagrams are helpful in understanding the concepts of logic, they are also helpful in the programming. For instance, De Morgan's laws are used in writing statements involving decisions and Venn diagrams are helpful in understanding these laws.

Computer

Calculations are also important in the science of computers. The text you read on the computer screen is presented in a particular format. Calculations are certainly needed for these.

Mathematics in Computer Programming

Geometry is used in the development of graphics. Actually a graphics screen resembles the co-ordinate plane. Just as we have points in the co-ordinate plane, we have pixels on the graphics screen. Though there are endlessly many points in any bounded part of the plane, while the number of pixels on the graphics screen is limited, yet the techniques of coordinate geometry can be used in drawing various figures on the graphics screen.

Various transformations play a part in the development of software. Two such transformations are famous as 'pop and push transformations'. As the graphs are useful in understanding different kinds of transformations, these help understand, in particular the Pop and Push transformations too.

The classical computer programming language namely 'the C language' makes a lot of use of mathematics. Different graphics commands of this language are based on the mathematical logic. The commands for making the background make use of hexadecimal numbers.

Five Tips on How to Enhance Your Computer Security

Network security has proved its importance in different businesses and industries. As people are becoming more engaged in the internet these days, the number of hackers and scammers has grown as well. There are a lot of types of security issues encountered online. These could be confusing and daunting, but they are rather important. Listed below are some excellent suggestions that could help ward off viruses, Trojans and other malicious codes that have the potential to steal your identity.

Choose a 64-bit Operating System

Computer

It is always best to upgrade to the latest operating systems as new operating systems have extended and enhanced features. If you are still using a Windows XP compared to the Windows 8 we have now, it is safe to conclude that XP performs inferiorly in terms of security. Moreover, even if you do upgrade to the latest OS, make sure that you choose the 64-bit version and not the 32-bit version, as the latter will be more prone to viruses and risks.

Five Tips on How to Enhance Your Computer Security

Avoid Using Administrator Accounts

The administrator account is the first account you see when you turn on a computer. This account has system administrator rights, but despite the rights, it is best to create a different account where you conduct your daily activities. In this way, even if you encounter a virus or any malicious code, it will not be able to entirely infiltrate your whole computer system that can potentially deteriorate network security. It is advisable to minimize the use of the administrator account.

Full Disk Encryption (FDE) on Laptops

Have the entire disk drive of your laptop encrypted. Having a standard password is not sufficient enough to keep hackers and thieves away/ the Full Disk Encryption or FDE provides an excellent layer of protection which works by securing the entire content of your computer and operating system.

Dump Office 2003 and Below

If you are still using the Microsoft Office 2003 version and below, it is imperative to upgrade right away. Documents from the old versions use binary file formats that can execute malicious codes. The new versions of the Microsoft Office come with features such as the protected read-only view which blocks the file from entering the computer if in any case it has viruses.

Updated Programs on PC

If you have third party programs installed in your PC including antivirus security programs, it is necessary to always keep them updated. Updates carry features which might be critical for network security.

Five Tips on How to Enhance Your Computer Security

Download free antivirus from Internet and protect your computer from viruses, malwares and other malicious programs. There are many websites available on the Internet that offers antivirus download services absolutely free.

Computer Appreciation For Beginners (Part 1)

To those who really want to be perfect in computer operation and understanding, this article which shall come in 'parts' will lead you gently from the basics of computer to the complex usage of the software in the system. Before one starts using the programs in the system, he or she wants understand the system components and their usage. And so I wish to let you know of the meaning of computer and probably the generations of computer.

Definition of a Computer System
Computer is defined in so many ways by so many people based on their field of specialization. A computer is a set of interrelated and interactive devices, which uses electronic components to perform a predefined operation with accuracy. But generally, a computer system may simply be defined as an electronic device, which is capable of accepting data as input, process the data, store the data and provide a result as output in human readable form. The four basic parts of a computer are Monitor, Keyboard, Mouse and System unit.

Computer

A Brief History of Computer
Computer history and development is always traced to Charles Babbage, the Father of computers and Lady Ada Lovelace, the Mother of Programming. The computer we have come to use today perfectly without any much stress and difficulty was not invented the way we have seen but passed through series of processes and stages. There exist five generations of computer as briefly discussed below:

Computer Appreciation For Beginners (Part 1)

First Generation Computer (The Vacuum Tube Technology)
This generation of computers consists of computers developed between 1944 and 1959. ENIAC (Electronic Numerical Integrator And Calculator), EDSAC (Electronic Delay Storage Automatic Computers) and UNIVAC 1 and 11 are first generation computers. This generation of computers were very bulky, dissipates a lot of heat, some were very heavy, weighing up to 200 tons. Because of the heat, they needed special cooling system. The characteristic technology of this generation was the use of vacuum tubes as the basic building blocks for the logic parts of the computers. In terms of speed they were very slow compared with computers of later generations.

Second Generation Computer (The Transistor Technology)
The technology, which gave the distinguishing characteristics of the second -generation computers, was the transistor technology. Although this device was developed in 1948 in Bell Telephone Laboratories, and was used largely in the electronic world, it was not until 1959 that it was introduced in the manufacture of computers. These transistors replaced the bulky vacuum tubes. In addition to doing everything that the vacuum tube could do, the transistors would do so with greater reliability, with less power requirement, generate less heat, less costly to manufacture and much smaller in size. The computers developed between 1959 and 1964 are called the second-generation computers. Examples: IBM 7030, 7070, 7090, 7094, Boroughs 200 series, UNIVAC III, Honey-well 800 etc. The development of high level programming languages like FORTRAN and COBOL was another innovation brought by the second-generation computers and were 10 times faster than the first.

Third Generation Computers (Integrated Circuit Technology)
Between 1964 and 1971, the third generation computers were developed. It was the technology of integrated circuits that opened the gates to the third generation computers. In fact we can say that the integrated circuit technology really revolutionized the computer technology itself. Integrated circuits are attached to a small piece of silicon chip. This technology cam progressively from Small Scale Integration (SSI), which contained about twenty interconnected transistors and diodes, through the Medium Scale Integration (MSI) which had over hundred interconnected transistors on a single chip, to Large Scale Integration (LSI) of over tens of thousand of transistors and diodes on a single chip. The achievements of the Integrated circuit technology led to even faster, more reliable, cheap and small-sized computers, whose powers were multiple of those of the earlier generations. In deed, this generation of computers gave birth to the mini computers, whose power of operation was more than the earlier generation, greater reliability and speed, yet was far less in size and in cost. They could do hundred times as many calculations per second and hundred times faster than their second-generation counterparts could. Examples: IBM 31360 - 31370 series, CDC 6600, 7600, Boroughs B5000 and PDP II series.

The Fourth Generation Computers (VLSIC Micro Technology
The very large-scale integrated circuit (VLSIC), made possible by the micro technology of the period 1971-1982 ushered in the fourth generation of computers. VLSIC has between 5,000 and 50,000 gates (transistors), upon which micro-processors were built. The effect of this technology was smaller and smaller but more and more powerful computers whose speed and reliability trivialized those of the earlier generations. This era also produced the micro-computers that could do the job of first generation large computers with thousand of times faster speed and affordable prices even by individual. This generation also produced a wide variety of software packages like word processing packages, graphics, games, spreadsheet packages and database management systems. Networking capabilities were also enhanced in this era. Examples of the fourth generation computers include the IBM 3033, HP 3000 mini computers, Apple II, Boroughs B7700.

Fifth Generation Computers (Era of Artificial Intelligence)
The technology of this generation of computers is characterized by Super Large Scale Integration (ULSI), Ultra Large Scale Integration (ULSI), parallel processing, Artificial Intelligence, Speech Processing, Pattern Recognition and Expert System. The distinguishing characteristics of this generation of computer are their tremendous speed and power. Continuous miniaturization of computers is the order of the day, newer, smaller, more powerful computers are seen day by day. Powerful microcomputers have today dwarfed the capability of the older days mainframe. Pentium II mother board with clock speed higher than 300 MHz and hard disk storage space over 20 Gigabytes with unbelievable capabilities, are now affordable by even low income earners. Networking, ranging from local, wide area to Internets are the common features of this generation of computers and has reduced the whole world into a global village.

Whats Wrong With My Computer? - Fixing a Slow Running Computer

Being a computer guy, people are asking me all the time, What's Wrong With My Computer? It's a very broad question, but luckily it usually comes down to a computer simply running very poorly, or very slowly. If you've ever muttered the phrase what's wrong with my computer, I'm sure you know what I'm talking about. So, onto the problems and solutions.

There is a logical explanation for a slow running computer. When you first buy your computer, it comes fresh from the factory in every way. The only software on it is from the factory. There is no third party software installed, and there are no added peripherals (extra hardware) to require it to use more of its resources to operate.

Computer

But you see as we continue to add more and more software and more and more hardware to our computers, over time, it is only natural that it is not efficient as it once was.

Whats Wrong With My Computer? - Fixing a Slow Running Computer

What's Wrong With My Computer? - The Culprit
Files get spread out, lost, fragmented, and become corrupted. Junk files and empty registry keys accumulate. Temporary files get in the way of normal files that are needed for every day use. Invalid file extensions show their ugly faces. Uninstall entries get lost or moved. Unnecessary startup files surface from installations. Stuff just gets all cluttered. So whats wrong with my computer? It is simply getting bogged down from everything that has been going on. Much like a car without an oil change.

Here's how to fix it
So what do you do when something gets bogged down? Well you clean it up of course. Since all of that above probably sounds like gibberish to you, so I am going to explain exactly how you are going to clean it all up. First, you can run your system defragmentation process by going to your system tools, or just typing "defragment" into your search box. That will align all of your files in the most efficient places to access them.

Secondly and most important of all, you can clean up all of your registry errors, junk files, startup files, invalid file extensions, etc. with specialized cleaning software made for exactly this reason. Unfortunately this software does not come with any computer, so you it is up to you to find it. I'll show you were in just a minute. But before I do that, consider this.

If you continue to let your computer get bogged down, run slower and slower, and let all of these junk files infect its inner workings, it is eventually either going to go into a crash cycle that will cost hundreds of dollars to fix, or it is just going to stop working altogether, costing you thousands to buy a new computer, depending on your flavor. Just like a car, a computer needs maintenance too, just without all the grease!

By making sure you maintain your computer properly, even the computer that is used all hours of the day can be prolonged and maintained until it becomes obsolete. If not, you will be buying a new computer every few years.

Whats Wrong With My Computer? - Fixing a Slow Running Computer

So first, defragment regularly. Second, be sure you run your registry cleaning software a couple of times per month. You can also use this to clean your startup files, and many other common culprits of a bogged down computer. Odds are if you follow this maintenance routine regularly you will no longer be asking, What's Wrong With My Computer? Get your free scan right now!

Don't ask yourself again What's Wrong With My Computer?

Types of Computer Software - What Does it Do For Your Computer

Software can simply be defined as the coded instructions that are sent to the computer, which when received by the computer, carries out the tasks the user desires. The commands govern the operation of the computer and all the programs that run on the computer at a given time. Every program installed on your computer is made up of some coded material. This is what the computer reads and carries out the commands required of it during the utilization of the program. The types of computer software can be categorized into three:

1. System software

Computer

Also referred to as operating system, it is the software used by the computer to convert and translate inputs from different sources into a machine language. It is the task of an OS to organize the hardware components of a computer. It is also the System software offers a shield of protection to all the other software applications. With the OS, support is also provided to the physical components of computers. Many Os exist in the market. The windows operating system is one that has made a lot of wave in the system software industry. Other operating systems also abound. Among these is UNIX, which is used for large office setups with powerful networks. We also have HP -UX and AIX, used by HP computers. Apache OS is also popular especially with web servers.

Types of Computer Software - What Does it Do For Your Computer

2. Application software:

Application software are the most commonly known and used types of computer software. Application software covers almost all the day-to -day activities done with the computer. Some examples of application software are the Microsoft office suite which includes Word, Excel, publisher and PowerPoint. Many people extensively use these applications. With Internet explorer, Netscape and Mozilla Firefox, people gain access to access the internet. Outlook express is software used for email management. One characteristic of the application software is the user interfaces.

3. Programming language software:

These types of computer software are exclusively used by computer programmers. A programming language is a set instructions used for creating application software and operating system. Basic tools used by the programming software are Compilers, interpreters, linkers and text editors. Examples of this kind of software are C++, Simlab and Java. Java is a programming language for internet applications. Most professional program developers use the C++ language. The program can also be used in developing operating systems. PHP is another language used for internet applications. A new class of languages now exists for the mobile devices. These are light weight languages used for designing mobile applications.

All Computer software works with a programming language. The process runs like a chain reaction. The chain is initiated by transferring the command. The computer software now generates the Machine code which ends the whole process.

Why Does My Computer Freeze Up? - A Guide to Fix Computer Freezes

"Why does my computer freeze?" I was wondering this question myself not too long ago. I would be using my computer like any other time. When all of a sudden my computer freezes up. I cannot access any programs. My mouse is not moving anywhere. I cannot use control/alt/delete. The only thing you can do is turn off your computer manually which is unsafe for your computer and causes you to lose any information were using at the time.

Anyone who has experienced this knows how big of a pain a computer freeze is. And it is even worse for those who like me had this happening to them on a regular basis. It just seems to come out of nowhere and can be a huge nuisance.

Computer

What I learned was that the problems were coming from my Windows registry. The registry is the most important and fragile area of your computer. It contains the information that runs all of your software and hardware. As you install, update, and delete programs the registry becomes filled with unwanted information.

Why Does My Computer Freeze Up? - A Guide to Fix Computer Freezes

This unwanted information causes two problems. First off it slows down your computer considerably. Like a traffic jam, your computer becomes congested with information and needs to be cleaned out to run fast again. The other problem is windows error messages and your computer freezing up. This useless and corrupted information on the registry counteracts with other programs causing serious problems.

The only way to fix this problem and prevent these kinds of computer freezes is to repair the Windows registry. Because it is such a fragile area it was recommended to use a program to clean up registry errors for me. I did so and my computer stopped freezing almost immediately. Even better it began to run like it was brand new!

If you are interested I have recommended the program I used below to solve this problem for me. With this program you will never have to wonder why does my computer freeze up ever again. Give it a try!

Computer Security Authentication

Computer security authentication means verifying the identity of a user logging onto a network. Passwords, digital certificates, smart cards and biometrics can be used to prove the identity of the user to the network. Computer security authentication includes verifying message integrity, e-mail authentication and MAC (Message Authentication Code), checking the integrity of a transmitted message. There are human authentication, challenge-response authentication, password, digital signature, IP spoofing and biometrics.

Human authentication is the verification that a person initiated the transaction, not the computer. Challenge-response authentication is an authentication method used to prove the identity of a user logging onto the network. When a user logs on, the network access server (NAS), wireless access point or authentication server creates a challenge, typically a random number sent to the client machine. The client software uses its password to encrypt the challenge through an encryption algorithm or a one-way hash function and sends the result back to the network. This is the response.

Computer

Two- factor authentication requires two independent ways to establish identity and privileges. The method of using more than one factor of authentication is also called strong authentication. This contrasts with traditional password authentication, requiring only one factor in order to gain access to a system. Password is a secret word or code used to serve as a security measure against unauthorized access to data. It is normally managed by the operating system or DBMS. However, a computer can only verify the legality of the password, not the legality of the user.

Computer Security Authentication

The two major applications of digital signatures are for setting up a secure connection to a website and verifying the integrity of files transmitted. IP spoofing refers to inserting the IP address of an authorized user into the transmission of an unauthorized user in order to gain illegal access to a computer system.

Biometrics is a more secure form of authentication than typing passwords or even using smart cards that can be stolen. However, some ways have relatively high failure rates. For example, fingerprints can be captured from a water glass and fool scanners.

Can I Watch TV From My Computer? Yes, You Can

Watch TV From My Computer

Have you ever thought to yourself "It sure would be nice to watch TV from my computer" Well, it's not the province of the super rich or ultra nerds anymore. In fact watching TV on your computer is becoming more main stream all the time. Some, including software giant Microsoft feel it is the wave of the future. They've actually staked part of their future on it. Their new Vista operating system has features designed specifically to enable this sort of functionality.

Computer

That's great, but where do you get the content? I mean, you just can't have thousands of channels pumped into your computer straight from the Internet, can you? Well, actually you can. There are really a few ways to get TV on your computer. You can buy a TV tuner card. This basically turns your computer into a high tech VCR or personal video recorder (PVR - think TiVO) device. That's pretty darn cool, but there are a couple of downsides to the approach. First of all, as was pointed out earlier, there is a content question. Where do you get it?

Can I Watch TV From My Computer? Yes, You Can

With the TV tuner card method, you're limited to what is available with a terrestrial antenna, or you can hook up basic cable TV service. Anything beyond basic cable won't work using this method, because the content is encrypted by your cable provider. You need their proprietary cable box to decode the really cool channels, or pay per view events. So, while this method of watching TV on your computer is pretty neat, there are definitely limitations with it.

You can use a pay per download service of watching movies on your computer, such as Cinemanow.com or Movielink.com. While they do offer a large amount of downloadable content, it's definitely not live TV. If you're looking for real live TV, you'll have to look elsewhere.

Another method is IPTV. TV content streamed straight over the internet to your computer or set top tuner box. There are two flavors of this. One is through a major service provider such as a cable, satellite or phone company. These are definitely capable of delivering a large amount of high quality content, but just because it's streamed over the Internet doesn't mean you'll just be pluggn' in the net straight to your PC and watching reruns of Sienfeld. You are basically duplicating the cable set top box approach, except the method of content delivery is using IP packets instead of analog or other types of digital cable.

There's still another choice. You can watch streaming live TV directly on your computer or to a TV hooked up to your computer. Using one of several software based solutions, you can watch live TV shows such as sports, prime time network programming, reality TV, and moves. It's live, and even better there are thousands of channels available from all over the world. If you are looking to keep up on world events, or want a different perspective on the news, this is a fantastic resource.

The software streaming solutions really excel for sports, though. You'll find sporting events that are sparsely covered in the U.S., such as soccer, motorcycle and bicycle racing. Another bonus is that you can get coverage of the same event form different networks. Want to see if the local announcers are a bit biased? You can do it. No matter the sport, if it's on TV anywhere in the world, you'll be able to watch it.

So, there are great ways to watch live TV on your computer. You just need to decide how you are going to do it, and grab a cold one!

Can I Watch TV From My Computer? Yes, You Can

Don't just stare at your screen. You could join the thousands that are enjoying watching live TV on their computer. Never miss another game again. Discover what you've been missing at the Live TV on Your Computer guide.

My Computer Keeps Shutting Down Randomly

Computers that shut down randomly will be suffering from one of several possible problems. In order to fix this issue, it's essential that you're able to fix the problems that cause your Windows computer to shut down, and having used PCs for many years, we've found a very simple way to combat this problem for good.

The first and most probable cause of your computer's random shutdown problem is from overheating. When computers run, they generate a lot of heat, which is why they have all sorts of fans inside. However, if your computer is not cooled enough, it can act in very strange ways, including shutting down randomly. If your system gets too hot, then it will just close down in an attempt to cool off.

Computer

Fixing the problem of overheating is actually very simple. If you have a laptop, make sure that it's not hot underneath. If it is hot, then you should put it onto a desk or flat surface and allow the fans underneath to work. It's often the case that people will smother the fans on their laps, causing laptops to overheat and shut down. If you have a desktop, simply take the side off the case and then get a desk fan and let it blow onto the inner-workings of your system. This will cool it down enough to let you see if the overheating problem is actually what's causing your PC's problems.

My Computer Keeps Shutting Down Randomly

The other big cause of this problem is actually to do with Windows itself. Windows often shuts down your PC randomly if the settings that it needs to run are unavailable. The problem is that whenever you use Windows, it's constantly reading 100's of settings from the "registry database", and if any of those settings are damaged or corrupted, Windows gets highly confused and can cause your PC to shut down.

The registry database is a central storage system for the files and settings of your PC. Basically, whenever Windows is being used, it needs to recall a large number of files and settings that make your computer run smoothly and effectively. The registry has been a central part of Windows since Windows '98, but it's one of the major reasons why computers will just shut down randomly. To fix this problem, you should look at using a "registry cleaner" to scan through the registry and fix any of the damaged settings or files that are inside it. Registry cleaners are software programs which scan through your system and allow it to quickly find and fix any number of issues inside your system. These programs are software tools and are very easy to use - you just need to download one from the Internet, install it and let it fix any of the issues on your PC. It will remove all the problems it finds and should make Windows run a lot more reliably again.

My Computer Keeps Shutting Down Randomly

In order to stop Windows shutting down randomly, you should first stop any overheating that might be occurring and then use a registry cleaner to stop any problems with the settings of your PC.

How To Transfer Programs From Old Computer To New Computer

If you are looking at just transferring files from XP to Vista or from your old computer to your new computer you have many different options. One of which is the free easy data transfer tool built into Windows XP and Vista. This easy data transfer tool is not hard to use and does transfer over files and user settings. You can always just manually do the data transfer as well but if you go that route you will not be able to transfer over the user settings from your old system to the new. The overall cost to use the easy data transfer wizard depends on what method you use to transfer over the files. If your using a network then you have no additional costs. If you use a CD or an external media device then you have the cost of the CD's or the USB hard drive.

But How do I transfer over programs to my new Computer

Computer

The Windows easy transfer wizard will not transfer over programs. If you want to transfer over your old data you will need to purchase software to do this. This type of software is not all too expensive. Most people can purchase this for a round 59 bucks. You may also want to get an easy transfer cable as well if you do not have a network or USB hard drive to back the data onto. With the easy data transfer cable you can just sync the two computers together using the data transfer software and in a few clicks the transfer will start. The time it takes will vary widely on how much data you have. It may take 20 minutes or even 3 hours if you have a ton of music and pictures. To sum it up here there is no free way to transfer programs from one computer to another.

How To Transfer Programs From Old Computer To New Computer

There are some important things to consider when transferring over programs. For instance if you have XP and are moving to Vista then you will want to make sure the programs you are moving will work with Vista. Most printers need to updated software to work with Vista. Office programs will work just fine and most anti-irus program will as well. You should always check first. If you do not check you can always just uninstall the program if it does not work.

How To Become a Computer Technician

So you want to be a Computer Technician, but you don't know how? Well guess what, I am going to tell you how.

First things first, I am blunt and to the point. I hate typing and thinking about grammar, that is why I went into the Technology field.

Computer

I have over 10 years experience in web design, computer networking, hardware, software, java programming, Apple & IBM (pc) format computers, telephone work, home theatres etc, etc, etc, & I make a lot of money doing. So basically I know what I am talking about & I am going to give you some advice that took me 10 long, hard years to learn.

How To Become a Computer Technician

1. MOST IMPORTANT: LEARN how to find the right answers. This can be true for ANY field, ANY person works in. You do not need to know everything, and guess what, if you spent the next 10 years reading, going to school & obtaining certifications, you still wouldn't know all there is to know in the field of Technology. But if you can figure out what resources will help you find a solution for you the fastest, then you are on your way.

2. Go to school and/or get certifications. Of course you need to learn about computers, software, hardware etc to become a computer technician. Find something that fits you, something that makes you excited to go. 4 year schools are not for every one, so make sure they are right for you if you choose to go. In my 4 years in college the only thing I learned to do is program at Level II in Java (a blind monkey could program at that level) and drink a lot of beer. 2 year schools are good because the get straight to the point about the actual jobs you will be doing out in the REAL world. (I was offered a teaching position at one of these 2 year schools at the ripe old age of 25, I laughed in their face & said no because of the salary they were offering). Certifications are important regardless if you get a 2 or 4 year degree. They tell other people that have NO CLUE about technology that you, indeed have a clue about technology

Did you follow that?

A couple of certifications that I highly recommend are the A+, Networking + and any Microsoft Support Certification.

3. Be patient, with yourself and the people you work with. You will always be learning if you become a computer technician. The average lifespan for a particular model of technology (ie computers) is about 2 years. Meaning as soon as you buy it, it is OLD. Things change everyday in Technology and you have to keep up with it!

4. Have a Positive Attitude! Remember, when people call you or you are dispatched out to work on someone's computer, TV etc, they usually are frustrated. Most people will try to fix the issue themselves before calling anyone because they are cheap. By the time you or I get there they are ready to cry. A positive and friendly attitude will go an EXTREMELY LONG WAY. You will be their savior and they will tell all their friends about you. This point might be the most difficult, especially in Technology because not very many people understand how it works and because our lives are so dependent on it.

That is it, 4 simple steps.

Can you handle it?

These are the 4 things I have tried to do over the last 10 years. Trust me, I am no genius, not by a long shot. But I figured out how to find the right answer for the problem, combined with an education, some certifications and the right attitude, I have people knocking down my door for my services.

Read this article a couple of times until this info really sinks in. This advice works so use it!

Stop sitting there and get busy!

Good Luck!

Computer Keeps Restarting Itself? - Help For Computer Rebooting Automatically (1)

The other day a friend came to me and complained that his computer kept restarting itself over and over again. It really afflicted him a lot.

I helped the friend to fix the problem at last and realized that perhaps there were many computer users annoying by the same problem so I wrote this article.

Computer

The leading causes of why computer keeps restarting itself may divide into two kinds: software faults and hardware faults.

Computer Keeps Restarting Itself? - Help For Computer Rebooting Automatically (1)

First we'd better exclude all possibility of software faults. I think it can be the following:

1) The computer has been affected by a kind of virus. A typical example is a once prevailing virus called MSBlaster which will make computers restart automatically every 60 seconds. However, it can have been worse. Your computer may be maliciously invaded when you search the internet and installed a Trojan-horse program by the hackers. With the Trojan-horse program, the hackers can control all activity of your computer, including making the computer restart and stealing some sensitive information in your computer. In such a case, you had better to update your anti-virus software and run a full computer scan. But notice that since anti-virus software is just a pre-defined solution to get rid of common viruses so it is recommended to ask tech support from some experienced or even professional tech guys when your anti-virus software can not fix the problem for you so that you can avoid a further loss.

2) It may happen when some files of the system have corrupted. For example, when the computer begin to run, the basic files required to ensure the smooth running of the operating system like fonts under Win98FONTS directory have been destroyed and then the operating system will force the computer restart for the system can't fulfill its initialization. In such a case, you can try to change the name FONTS in the win98 directory. That is all. As the saying goes, "we need to make a concrete analysis of everything."

I will discuss the possible hardware faults that make your computer keep rebooting next time.

Advancements in Computer Technology

With technology progressing as fast as it is at the present, it is a wonder we do not have a new mass-marketed gadget appearing every few minutes. Personal computers, once predicted to be owned by a mere handful of individuals, are everywhere nowadays. If you are a student a personal computer is virtually a necessity. Accompanying the ever-increasing popularity of the personal computer is a plethora of gadgets and technological advancements. Though it may not be every few minutes, it seems as though every couple of months we hear about a computer with more storage space or a new device that one can connect to their computer.

Some devices that appear on the market are either completely superfluous or not so accessible to the entirety of the population, whether it is because of their cost or their limited supply. The costly devices are reserved to those who can afford them, until some new gadget replaces them and the price of these machines decreases, much like any new technology that appears on the market. Those gadgets, which are unnecessary, are not overly practical and the market for these creations is comprised mainly of those with an affinity for such devices. Inventions like webcams, while they are certainly fun to play with, are essentially unnecessary as they have no bearing on the actual operation of the computer and are used largely for leisure computer activities.

Computer

The more purposeful advancements in computer technology revolve around those, which increase the computers ability to manage certain tasks and those, which increase the storage space of the computer. Many personal computer owners find themselves craving more space to store songs or various other files and often wishing that their computer were faster. Though many computers produced today have a excessive storage space, that is, it is nearly impossible to fill a personal computer to capacity, these types of advancements permit a much speedier and more efficient functioning computer.

Computer Phobias

Years ago around the end of January I would develop Chinophobia (fear of snow). Maybe it was because we had 3-5 feet of snow and I was ready for spring. Over the years I have developed "temporary phobias" for a number of good reasons.

A phobia is a handy way to get myself out of unpleasant situations. I developed Dentophobia (fear of the dentist) when my wisdom teeth decided to come in, but it was cured when the pain became so unbearable that I set out for the dentist office for some relief. Phobias also provide good excuses for why I do some of the silly things I seem to do, such as, when computers were first introduced to our school.

Computer

When computers were first introduced to our school I developed instant Cyberphobia (fear of computers or working on them). As the years passed I lost this phobia, but I noticed that there are many phobias associated with computers. In other words if you have any of the following phobias I would not be even near a computer.

Computer Phobias

Neophobia (fear of anything new)--computers change daily, oops, hourly so you need to avoid them.

Monophobia (fear of being alone)--since working on a computer is not group work you should avoid a computer.

Ballistophobia (fear of bullets)--You can get near a computer and even work on one, but avoid that bullet button at all costs.

Tropophobia (fear of making changes)--don't even be in the vicinity of a computer because this is a continual procedure and if you don't change your computer system often you quickly revert to the caveman era of computer technology.

Atychiphobia (fear of failure) - better not chance using a computer because the power may fail, the lights may flicker and then your system fails and you have to start all over. Besides that, one misplaced finger can make you wonder, "What happened now?"

Ankylophobia (fear of joint immobility) try sitting at a computer all day and then get up, it's close to impossible at my age so avoid the computer.

Kaniophobia (fear of anything new or novel) with a computer it's always changing and you may not be warned about those changes, so don't chance it.

Allodoxaphobia (fear of opinions)--you can get on the computer, but avoid chat rooms and articles, like this, at all costs.

Castisophobia (fear of sitting)--self explanatory, just avoid the computer. Tachophobia (fear of speed)--avoid computers only if they have high speed internet and it was built last year, other wise, it is okay.

Polyphobia (fear of many things)--Everything connected to the computer is numbered in the many things category. Many functions, many buttons, many sights and especially many wires. Technophobia (fear of technology) That's what computers are all about, technology, so avoid.

May you find your life free of any phobias and typing peacefully on your computer. Have a good life.

Beeps - Computer

When you turn on your PC or laptop the system will run a test called a power on self test. Before Windows even begins to load a signal is sent to various components on the mother board. The POST will check components such as RAM, keyboard, video controller, CPU, the system clock and main board. If any of these components are missing or faulty the test will send out a beep code through the system speaker alerting of a problem. Sometimes the error will also be displayed on the screen for quick diagnosis. If everything is OK the pc will normally make a short beep and begin to load the operating system.

Most POST tests use a similar type of beeping code, I have listed here the most common for PCS and laptops. For general PCS:

Computer

· 1 beep code -memory failure -Reseat /replace RAM

Beeps - Computer

· 2 beeps -memory failure -Reseat /replace RAM

· 3 beeps -memory failure first 64 KB -Reseat /replace RAM

· 4 beeps -the system timer -system battery or main board

· 4-7 beeps -system board/CPU -Replace main board/CPU

· 8 beeps Video memory Replace video card/main board

From my experience reseating ram does very often fix the problem. Also reseating other components if further troubleshooting is required can also do the trick. To isolate a problem you can disconnect hardware such as the hard drive, CD ROM drive floppy drive. Each manufacturer has a detailed list of beeps computer codes.

If your PC or laptop is not giving you a beep message and will not boot I have listed a comprehensive list of links for more troubleshooting solutions at my website.

Computer - Very Slow Startup?

This article is going to give you some advice on speeding up your slow computer! A few tips and tricks I have learned working as a computer technician. If your computer is very slow at startup then there are a few main things you need to look at. I will list them here and go into detail on each one.

- Startup Items
- Viruses
- Registry
- Temporary files (cookies etc.)

Computer

Startup Items

Computer - Very Slow Startup?

One of the main things that could be causing your computer to be loading slow at startup will be all the programs that are set to load, if you have 30 programs that all need to load when you first enter Windows then you can see why it is taking an age. To combat this you can either go into msconfig and untick all the programs you don't need at startup.. or you can download a program called StartUpLite which gives you a list of all un needed programs at startup, from there you can tell it what to prevent from loading.

Viruses

If you have any viruses or spyware on your computer then this can also delay startup times. Run a full virus/spyware scan through to ensure your computer is clean from any infections. If you don't already have a scanner, I would suggest you run through a program called Malwarebytes and get a constant anti virus such as Avira or Avast (All can be found on Google).

Registry

Slow startup can be aided by a bad/corrupt/overloaded registry. Try running through a registry cleaner such as CCleaner.

Temporary Files

These are all the files that aren't needed on your computer. These files get onto your computer when you are viewing a web page. To clean these you might want to try giving your computer a full cleanup by using a program such as Cleanup or CCleaner. I hope some of this information helps to speed up your computer. Even if you manage to get your computer to the speed you want it I would suggest you to do a full virus scan of your computer, clean the registry and get rid of any unnecessary files on a regular basis. To see a selection of other useful downloads and get links for the ones mentioned have a look at the link below.

Computer Evolution

A computer is a machine that is able to store process and retrieve data to perform some function. The first ones to think about computing are the Muslims When they invented algorithms (Named after the Muslim Scholar "Alkhawarizimy") and that was in the 1200's. Algorithms are mathematical processes and steps to solve problems.

Early in the 1600's the Europeans developed mechanical calculators that aimed to solve simple mathematical problems such as addition. It was "Blaise Pascal" who invented the first commercial calculator that was a machine powered by hand that was only able to perform addition. "Gottfried Liebnitz" in the 1670's tried to manufacture multiplying machines but the first successful multiplying machines appeared in Germany just before the American war.

Computer

In 1801, "Joseph-Marie Jacquard" from France builds a loom that weaves after reading punch cards full of holes made out of wood. The cards of holes are used in the machines to define the pattern that the machine weaves by. This is typical data retrieval and processing. This machine was powered by water and it was 149 years before the invention of a real modern link computing machine.

Computer Evolution

Charles Babbage began looking for a programmable machine just after the first mass-produced calculator on 1820. Babbage was a poor man and a book-keeper but he managed to finish his machine on 1842 and "Ada Lovelace" used his machine to translate a short written work. She is known to be the first programmer ever in history.
